Grande Provence Chardonnay
WINEMAKER’S TASTING NOTES
Immediate citrus aromas appear on the nose. Ripe oranges and mandarins prevail. Butterscotch and caramel from the oak influence backs up the rich fruit. On palate the wine shows fair acidity counterbalanced by roundness and depth of flavour. The wine finishes dry and stays on the tongue.
WINE OF ORIGIN
Our Chardonnay is sourced from premium vineyards in the Franschoek valley. The grapes are hand-harvested and whole bunch pressed, then fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected yeast strains. Cold fermentation at 15⁰C ensures the formation and preservation of the typical cultivar aromas and the development of unique flavour profiles. The Chardonnay was fermented in 500L and 600L French oak barrels for 16 months to provide extra complexity and palate weight. The eventual blend is a combination of ripe fruit flavours and mellow oak nuances.
This wine is well suited to poultry and pork dishes but can also be favourably paired with well ripened cheeses or grilled fruits.
Drink now or keep enjoying it for a further 8 to 10 years.
