    Grande Provence Cabernet Sauvignon

WINEMAKER’S NOTES Here’s a perfect medium-bodied red wine for sipping by the fireside to ward off the winter chill. The nurturing velvety tannins and elegant finish will wrap you in pure winter comfort.  This wine teems with raspberries, cherries, mulberries and plumbs with notes of fruitcake, pencil shavings and tobacco.   VINTAGE 2017   VARIETY 100% Cabernet Sauvignon   WINE OF ORIGIN Franschhoek   AWARDS Platinum - South African Wine Index 2019   VINIFICATION The Grapes are harvested from southwest facing vineyards in the Franschhoek valley.  The well-drained, decomposed sandstone soils are ideal for the cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon.  The winemaker implements appropriate canopy management to achieve berries with deep colour and concentrated fruit flavours. What makes this wine unique is the location of the vineyard next to a row of eucalyptus trees. During summer, the trees suck up all the water from the surrounding soil. High summer temperatures, cause the eucalyptus trees to ‘sweat’ through the leaves, producing a mist that is blown over the vineyard. The fine droplets landing on the grapes, impart the unique minty taste to the wine. This wine was matured in French oak barrels for 18 months. Enjoy now or cellar for 5-8 years.   SERVING SUGGESTION This plush red wine sips beautifully on its own or enjoy it with hearty roasts, steaks or lamb skewers bedecked in mushroom and rosemary.   AGEING POTENTIAL Drinking well already, yet promises greater integration and intrigue for up to 10 years from vintage.   TECHNICAL ANALYSIS Alc:  14.26 % pH:  3.66 RS:  2.5 g/l TA:  5.1 g/l

    Grande Provence Merlot

WINE MAKER'S TASTING NOTES The 2018 harvest yielded significantly smaller berries with more concentrated flavours which inspired us to produce our very first Merlot. The Grande Provence Merlot started out as a component for our The Grande Provence Red blend, and it still is, but it also evolved into a standalone wine due to its fruit purity, its elegance and complexity. The vineyard is situated in the Helderberg region that gets a lovely cooling sea breeze which results in smaller berry formation with a lot of concentration. It allows us to extract and form a very elegant tannin structure. ThIs Merlot front notes of vibrant dark cherries and raspberries with hints of wild herbs, tomato leaf and dark chocolate enlivened by touches of cinnamon, cloves, orange peel and earthy tones. The palate is supported by a supple, smooth tannin structure.   VINTAGE 2018 - maiden vintage   VARIETY 100% Merlot   WINE OF ORIGIN Stellemnbosch   VINIFICATION Our Merlot is sourced from vineyards in the famous Golden Triangle area of Stellenbosch.
