    Angels Tears Sauvignon Blanc

    Angels Tears got its unusual name from a legend that began in a small town, Freinet in France in the 18th century, when grape harvest produced an outstanding vintage that was especially fragrant and ambrosial. Word spread afar, and legend has it angels stole into the village cellars by night and, upon touching the wine to their lips, wept tears of joy.The very same legend continues to this day at Grande Provence, home of Angels Tears.Here a French Huguenot family planted the first vines imported from France in 1694.The first batch of Angels Tears wines was produced in 1992 from D’Alexandrie grapes.   Wine of Origin:  Western Cape   Vintage 2018   Analysis: Alc 12.5% pH  3.39 RS  3.5 g/l TA 5.7 g/l Style: An easy drinking Sauvignon Blanc, with upfront tropical fruit aromas on the nose and palate supported by hints of green pepper.  Well balanced with a beautiful, crisp finish. Vinification: The grapes are hand harvested and brought into the cellar where they are gently destemmed and pressed. It is then fermented at 13⁰C for 2 weeks and then matured on its lees for 4 months to still maintain its zippy crisp green and tropical fruit favors. The wine is made from our 10 hectare blocks and handpicked at 22.5 balling sugar. Early picking takes place to preserve the pyrazines in the grapes.   Serving Suggestions: Enjoy by the glass or with alfresco seafood and chicken dishes.

After the fermentation process each cultivar goes through a selection process and only the most fitting wines are chosen for the final blends, ensuring consistency in the fruity character of this delightful and easy drinking wine. Each year the winemaker receives this bounty from nature and crafts a new vintage that continues to capture the true essence of Angels Tears in every bottle.   Vinification: The grapes are hand harvested and brought into the cellar where they are gently destemmed and then pressed and moved to tank, fermentation takes up to 2 weeks at a temperature of 13⁰C. At a specific point and taste our winemaker will stop the fermentation to create this succulently natural sweet wine.   Serving Suggestions: A perfect wine to enjoy with a summer picnic.  Serve this natural sweet wine with lightly spiced Indian or Asian style dishes and fresh fruit salads.

The blend consists of 95% pinotage and 5% shiraz.   Style: A lovely fresh crisp Rosé with upfront, freshly picked strawberry, raspberry and cherry flavours. This is a well-balanced wine with a delightful fruity profile.   Serving Suggestions: Enjoy a glass of this rosé on its own or pair it with lightly seasoned seafood dishes or summer salads.  This Rose is also the perfect picnic wine.  Enjoy chilled.

    Angels Tears Merlot Cabernet Sauvigon

The first batch of Angels Tears wines was produced in 1992 from D’Alexandrie grapes.   Vintage 2018   Wine of Origin: Western Cape   Analysis: Alc 14.0% pH  3.60 RS  3.5 g/l TA 5.6 g/l   Vinification: The wine is made from low yielding vineyards on the estate, yielding 6 tons per hectare. The grapes are hand harvested and brought into the cellar where they are gently destemmed. The fermentation takes up to two weeks at 25⁰C with a minimum of four pump-overs a day to build this wine’s elegant structure and its lovely colour.   After the fermentation process each cultivar goes through a selection process and only the most fitting wines are chosen for the final blends, ensuring consistency in the fruity character of this delightful and easy drinking wine. The wine blend consists of 40% Merlot, 40% Cabernet, 15% Petit Verdot and 5% Shiraz. For the aging process the wines stays on French oak staves for 8 months. The blend varies from vintage to vintage.     Style: The Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon is an easy drinking red blend with upfront red berry flavours on the nose and palate.  This is a medium bodied wine with soft, smooth tannins, perfect for every day enjoyment.
